Don't Just Think About It
Instead of focusing on how to stay on the defense because of the enemy. Think about how stay on the offense because of God.
The word is the sword of the Spirit. You counteract any negative thoughts or fiery darts the enemy throws at you with your faith.
One thing I have learned about fear is that they are all lies. If you ask yourself how come you haven’t done a thing you told yourself you were going to do, it boils down to fear. But all lies are irrational and false. That’s why they call fear “False Evidence Appearing Real”.
Bible verses to counteract certain type of fears:
Fear of failure:
For a righteous man may fall seven times
And rise again,
But the wicked shall fall by calamity.
Proverbs 24:16-18
Fear of losing money:
“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Matthew 6:24
Fear of pain:
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Matthew 10:28
Fear of what other people think:
Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
Galatians 1:10
In other words, there is a word for anything you are facing today. One thing I have learned through my own life experience and reading countless books on spirituality, biology, psychology, neurology and autobiographies is that you can’t just think or pray your way out of fear. You have to act. The more times you do it, the less fearful it becomes.
Courage is a muscle. And courage is doing something in spite of fear not doing something when you don’t feel the fear.
In other words, feel the fear and do it anyway.
Do it trembling,
Do it shaking
Do it sacred
Do it insecure
Do it overweight
Do it not feeling ready
Do it not having all the answers
Nike was genius when they created the term “just do it” Because it’s true, when you just do it, God has your back. When you just do it, God has favors your. There is this quote, “fortune favors the brave” it’s so true. You see people that are not qualified for their position but they are there because they stepped out. I always say, step out to find out, you never know.
We can look at apostle Peter, when he stepped out of the boat, he had no idea that he was going to walk on water, all he did was follow Jesus commands. And that is what God wants us to do today: Follow his lead and no matter what he will catch us.
God does not want us to be cowards. Cowards let fear rule their life and not faith. Letting fear rule is actually a sin. In the last page of the Bible. Jesus says the cowardly will be left out. Fear is a sin it may not send you to hell but I will tell you this, if you let fear rule your life you won’t life the life you were called to live here on earth. But the great part is that God commands you to be strong and courageous. Why? Because he fights your battles and he is always with you and he will never leave or forsake you.
Action: what is one fear God is asking you to overcome today? Like Nike, just do it. I have used the “5 Second Rule” many times. All you do it count down from 5 and commit the action. This disrupts your prefrontal cortex (the front part of your brain)
Prayer: Father I pray right now in the name of Jesus that every knee shall bow, that every young confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. I pray Lord you guide us into all truth and you help up won against the battle of fear. There is truly nothing to fear because you are always
“But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.””
Revelation 21:8 NIV
