Jesus Understands

JESUS UNDERSTANDS

“Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.””

Matthew 26:39 NIV

As we see here, Jesus was praying to stop his suffering but he knew the calling on his life. He knew that if he didn’t go through with it then humanity would not be saved.

In life, there are things that might feel painful today but later on will produce much fruit. As it says in Hebrews

“In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.” Hebrews 12:4 NIV

Jesus was literally shedding blood in the garden for what he was about to face. But he knew he had to face it. What is it in your life God is asking you to face today?

It might not feel pleasant now but later on:

“No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.”

Hebrews 12:11 NIV

In this walk with Christ there will be many temptations to quit your calling or quit something God is telling you to do. We can be honest with God, let him know how we feel like Jesus did but at the end of the day we have to tell the Lord, not my will but your will be done.

If it’s not God’s will then it won’t be fruitful.

Jesus understands and empathizes because he was also human:

“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.” Hebrews 4:15 NIV

Don’t ever feel like you can’t bring your real thoughts and feelings to God. Anyone who tells you otherwise is being super religious. Jesus knows where you are and he wants to help you where God wants you to go. And remember it’s not so much about you it’s about the people connected to your obedience.

Imagine if Jesus didn’t die on the cross? Then where would we be or deserve? Who would have paid the ultimate price for our sins?  Imagine if you quit or stop what God calls you to do, where would all the people that are counting on you be?

Action:

What is one thing God is asking you to do even though you don’t want to do it? Pray to the father and ask him let his will be done not yours.

Jesus understands

Prayer: Lord, I magnify your name today. Thank you for all that you have done in my life. You are great. Lord you know what I want to do in my heart. You know my dreams, desires and visions. But Lord I pray your will be done in my life. I pray your will be done in my life in perfect timing. Even the things I want to set out to do or the things that I actually don’t want to do but I know are good for me and the people I lead, I pray you help me do them and keep walking in my God given purpose. I pray all these things in Jesus name. Amen
