The Word is Your Weapon
The Word Is Your Weapon
Hey fam!!
This week I felt like God has been asking and challenging me to go higher in the memorization of his scripture even though I memorize many verse, God wants me to go higher as he wants for all of us.
In Psalms it’s says
”How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my HEART; do not let me stray from your commands. I have HIDDEN your word in my HEART that I might not sin against you. Praise be to you, Lord; teach me your decrees. With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth.“
Psalms 119:9-13 NIV
David hid the word in his heart. What’s funny is the definition of memorize is:
“Commit to memory, learn by HEART”
As we see the connection here, when we remember something it’s in our heart, so when we remember a Bible verse it’s becomes part of us and how we think and act because everything you do flows from your heart. Your heart is the very center of your being, your emotions, your mind, your thoughts, your actions.
”Above all else, guard your heart, for EVERYTHING you do flows from it.“
Proverbs 4:23 NIV
This is why following Jesus is not a religion or legalism it’s a TRANSFORMATION of the? HEART. When your heart changes you change. It’s not behavior motivation. It’s HEART TRANSFORMATION.
That’s why seeking God’s daily bread is so powerful, because we have to read God’s word daily. Renew our mind daily, in order to see TRANSFORMATION. Once your mind is renewed then you can test what is God’s will for you. If you don’t read the word, then you will be blinded and callused by the world.
”Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.“
Romans 12:2 NIV
This is how transformation happens, when we know the word and the word is in us, it will come out exactly when we need it.
Before Jesus started his ministry, he was challenged by the enemy with the word.
The devil said “if you are the son of God turn this stone intro bread” even though Jesus was very hungry and tempted. Jesus said “man can’t live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4)
You see when we know the word, it becomes our weapon. The devil knows the word and so should we. This is how we fight our battles with the word. It says we don’t fight with flesh and blood but with but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12)
When we know the word, the word becomes our sword. And when we have the sword we can’t defeat anything
”Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.“
Ephesians 6:17 NIV
When we know the word, it becomes our battle armor. This is why every morning it’s important to put on the armor of God, to resist and stand firm against the enemy. When we know the word, we know more about God and when we know more about God we know more about how he designed us to live. And when we know our design then we can make decisions according to our design.
The word is our weapon because Jesus is the word of God. And when he comes back he will be defeating the enemies with his double edged sword in his mouth because he will be speaking the word because he is the word.
”In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.“
John 1:1 NIV
”In his right hand he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.“
Revelation 1:16 NIV
”Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.” He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty.“
Revelation 19:15 NIV
Words in our lives our so powerful, this is why you can still remember what your parents or someone said to you either negatively or positively and that can shape the way you see yourself and form your identity.
But if you learn God’s word, and what he actually says about you, then you will be forming the right identity not a false identity that needs to be propped up with materialistic things or worldly results but your identity will be held up with a solid foundation that is built on the rock!
”“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.“
Matthew 7:24 NIV
I hope this helped you and encourages you to read, memorize and seek God’s word daily because if everything fails you have the word. Which can make you thrive in any season. But if everything is going good you have the word to keep you going even higher.
”For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.“
Hebrews 4:12 NIV
”Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.“
Matthew 24:35 NIV
When you have the word as your weapon you can OVERCOME anything! You can overcome any temptation and any trial. This is your will for you in Christ Jesus.
It says:
”No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.“
1 Corinthians 10:13 NIV
No matter how hungry, how thirsty, how much you want something you don’t have to fulfill or go for it because you have the Sprit of power, love and self control living inside of you. You can overcome anything. You never have to fulfill sin, it’s a lie! Sin leads to death but choosing the spirit gives life!
”Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.“
Ephesians 6:10-17 NIV
